Jennifer Ong serves multitudinous consumers with a sincere heart

Ong Shaw Khim, who is usually called Jennifer, is 45-year-old this year and has been a WeChat merchant that sells beauty products for almost eight years. Before Jennifer came into contact with the job of WeChat merchant, she was just an accountant working in an office with a fixed schedule which is from Monday to Saturday 9am to 5pm, and getting a fixed salary. Then only she became a WeChat merchant and slowly developed her way for online business and now opens up her physical store. Jennifer has shared about how she started up an online beauty product selling from an accountant and now opens up a physical store to collaborate online and offline for her business.
The reason for her getting into the mindset to become a beauty products WeChat merchant is quite interesting and unusual but also ordinary at the same time. The interesting and unusual part is firstly she got into contact with the WeChat merchant due to her skin problems and she found that her friend posted a moment (in WeChat) about the skincare and beauty products from China. She bought the beauty products with the mentality of trying it out, and after using it, her skin condition improved then only did she start to share with her friends around. She sincerely wants to help the people around her to have beautiful skin and improve their condition. The ordinary part about her reason is to improve her economic condition, which is the same for most of the people working hard for their own and also for their family’s future. This is the way she started her journey to becoming a WeChat merchant.
Jennifer has also shared about the obstacles and setbacks faced when she runs her business as a WeChat merchant. From her sharing, I have felt her perseverance, persistence, and determination.
“There will be more or less setbacks when I have entered as a WeChat merchant for some time.”
As Jennifer has become a WeChat merchant for a long time, she has made her business get better and better. But at the same time, she also receives obstacles and setbacks when she runs her business. When she first started the business she also faced the hardship of getting customers. Over time, she has faced peer competition and received jealousy and slander from peers. Besides that, there are also the issues of the agents being drained from her team. The peer slanders and loss of agents undoubtedly put her in a hard way to move forward for her to succeed.
“The obstacles and setbacks faced seem like a kind of motivation and driving force for me to move forward;
I won’t be hit down by any obstacles.”
But her perseverance, persistence, and determination have led to her brighter future and more success in her business. Facing the peer slander and churn of agents, Jennifer still insists on being herself and treats the customers sincerely. During the process, she meets a group of intimate friends and partners who work hard together until today.

To make her business to get more consumers to know about the Mishang products, Jennifer and her team have often shared posts about Mishang products on WeChat moment and well used various platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Xiaohongshu, and DouYin to promote and share the propaganda of Mishang products. Hereby their products have been known by more consumers and they get more customers to buy their products in this way. Thereby, even though during the pandemic period which has affected lots of the business, Jennifer still can get her customer sources and even more than previous as the smartphones for most of the people are always on their hands.
“The most important thing is the sincere heart when getting in touch with the customers.”
Jennifer said that the way to get the trust of the customers is to treat them with sincerity and let them know about their professionalism. They will first ask their customers’ needs and question their skin condition then only they will prescribe the right products for the customers. Instead of just promoting the best products or the newest products to the customers, they are more emphasize on their customers’ needs.
“It has always been my childhood dream to open a beauty shop.”
As Jennifer is getting more success in online beauty products selling, she opens up a physical store to collaborate between online and offline for her business. Jennifer has had the idea of having her own store since her childhood period and now she opens up the store also because of the change of policy for the Mishang products. They are willing to have the collaboration between online sharing and promoting products and also offline physical stores to provide the consumers come over to experience and try out the products and services. For Jennifer, she said that most Malaysians have misunderstandings and are scared of using the China beauty products for themselves. So, opening up the physical store is to let them try out the products and clear up their misunderstandings. Not only clearing up the misunderstanding, but she also wants to reassure the customers.
“Sincerity and determination are always my attitude and practice that make me successful in life.”
